A permanent vacancy has arisen for a Systems Administrator 3rd Line Support

The systems department here operates as a shared service centre supporting multiple companies within.

This role will provide comprehensive support to the Systems team leader, focusing on support, performance management and tuning.

The role will have the following key accountabilities:

Windows server, Citrix and VMware Administration
Responsibility for server Administration and monitoring
Event log management and proactive server support and administration
Capacity management reporting
Business recovery planning and responsibility for scheduled adherence to published test plans.

Application Management

Senior Software Engineer

The ideal candidate will join an innovative team of developers to deliver processing software solutions for multi-core targets, on time and to budget. Key Responsibilities are to:

* Line management of up to three software development teams

Knowledge, experience and skills required:

Mandatory

Solid experience of managing at least one team of software developers and providing strong hands on technical/architectural lead.
Proven commercial experience of programming real-time applications under Linux (preferred) or Windows in high-level languages (C++, Java) prior to having moved to team lead role.
Extensive experience in formal OO design methods (i.e. UML), UML CASE tool, and design patterns.
Experience of writing formal documentation to military standards and organising peer reviews.
Good understanding and experience of large system networking aspects and integration activities.
First-class analytical, design and problem solving skills.
Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and externally.
Self-starter, keen to meet technical challenges and able to motivate reports to achieve tight deadlines.
Self-motivated and able to work to budgets and timescales as part of a wider team and individually.
Experience of Microsoft Office tools.
Minimum 2:1 in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics with modules in software related disciplines.
Security clearance to UK SECRET level is required.

Desirable

Background in the defence industry in particular in SONAR systems.
Understanding of signal processing algorithms.
Experience of Agile development methodology.
Experience in estimating large software developments.
